Wellness Hotel Zuberec

The proposal is situated on the outskirts of village Zuberec at the base of Western High Tatras.  Our thorough site analysis lead to a linear volume with a pitched roof, which responds to the traditional typologies of timber houses in the region of Orava. The linear object divides the site to two parts. The first one connected to the front façade overlooking the western High Tatras, serves a function of a welcoming entrance and provides landscaping for different activities. On the contrary, the second one has more of an intimate character and offers exterior spaces connected to the conference hall, the swimming pool, and the back of the house. The curved façade allows for maximum amount of spaces oriented towards the mountain view of Roháče and reduces the hotel´s mass when viewed from the ground. A smaller pavilion is then located on the other side of road, with its design and position rooted in the main hotel´s volume.
