Belevis Headquarters Nitra

The narrow, yet strong, silhouette, which keeps growing in height and length, is confidently planted onto the remaining land in front of a modernist shopping mall. The integrity lies within its ability to create a dialogue with its surrounding arrangement. The curving of the facade resembles a common city framework and awakens a desired tension between ´old´ and ´new´. The form of the ground floor adapts accordingly to the need to widen the existing sidewalk, accommodating it beneath its arcade. The volume gradually recedes on the top floor, visually fades away from the street border, and creates space for a green terrace with spectacular views. The building has four upper levels, a ground floor, and one underground level. The ground floor with retail spaces oriented towards the street easily attracts passersby. In the narrowest part of the building, a double-height area accommodates a public café. Potential office spaces occupy upper levels, with the possibility of being split by several tenants. The top level offers a more exclusive environment. The dominant feature of the building is the exterior staircase connecting the street level with the terrain of the mall. Directly crossing through the core of our volume, increasing permeability, ensuring a socially controlled environment along with a clear visual connection of the different levels, serving as a metaphor to different decades.
