Water Tower Vydrica

The aim of our proposal was an organic integration of the Water Tower site, a crucial part of Bratislava's cultural heritage, into newly established public space, communications, topography, and functions of the emerging Vydrica district. Vydrica is located just beneath Bratislava castle. Our intervention seeks harmony between the unique values of existing cultural heritage, its central location, and its natural features. We aim to create a relationship in which they mutually support each other and enhance their potential. In the centre, we created a much-needed public space resembling a piazza, working as a mediator between various height levels and two main zones– a historic monument and a new pavilion.
