Cafe Apoteka

Apoteka is a project of a non-profit organisation called Magna. 100% of the proceeds from the Apoteka café go towards Magna´s humanitarian work. It is located in the centre of Bratislava in the original premises of a pharmacy in the Esterhazy Palace on Panska Street. The history of this building together with the theme of medical assistance, which Magna provides in the affected areas, are the driving factors of our concept and the design of our proposal. Sustainability, low-cost, and the effort to preserve the authentic atmosphere of these historical spaces led us to minimal permanent interventions. The space is cleaned of all the clutter from previous uses, supplemented with essential and functional furniture pieces using boards made from recycled plastics. The most striking elements of the interior are the tiled bar and the diagonal light that ties together the entire space. The muted colours and materiality allow the essence of the original vaulted space to stand out.
